I Dare You

I dare you not to cry (despite Whitney's warbling):

Ted and I are slightly skeptical about the authenticity of this story. If it is actually true, seriously, it's impossible not to get teary at this.
Update: we've been doing a little research. Looks like it's a true story. You can read it here. And it seems there's a movie about it too.

Reminds me of a similar story called "Born Free" about Elsa the Lion. Andy Williams sang the title song that was in the TV show about it - way back when I was a kid

I chose to read the story rather than watch it- most stuff in general makes me pretty damn emotional. Listening to Whitney sing her guts out tends to raise the level.

I wish more people (myself included) would be brave enough to go out "there" and make a difference. For humans. For animals. For all living things. It's about compassion and love. The world needs more of it.

Lost that dare, though I did not sob uncontrollably as I am at work at my desk and attempting to retain some vestige of professionalism.

I am laughing at myself right now...crying like a baby at the whiteny houston lion video!
I am not going to lie..it kind of makes me want to go get myself a lion.

I'm so glad Tara just made me laugh or else I might not have stopped crying. Perhaps I needed a good cry, but I've even upset the dogs with my sobbing at this one. Thanks Lori. Thanks a lot. :)

(I should add that I freaked people out in the theater when I saw Turner and Hooch many moons ago - I think animal stories make me sob.)

Whoa! That is totally crazy! As a kid I always wanted a pet lion. I'm so jealous!

I saw this before but not with the footage of them, before they gave him away. It made me cry again. Even with Whitney.

Cried like a baby and that is one of my kids favorite movies. I had never seen the real footage though, thank you! :)

Oh my goodness, I love the video, but I have to laugh at Whitneys voice. :)

(Not that I can sing like that.) Is that actual footage of when they reunited with the lion? I admit, I'm a total skeptic, I'll have to click on the links.

If true, beautiful story! :)
